Telenor led the mobile market across key performance metrics

Telenor had the Best Mobile Network overall, and the Best 5G Network, among providers in Norway during 1H 2025. It recorded a median download speed of 183.12 Mbps, and a median 5G download speed of 255.4 Mbps.

GlobalConnect offered the best quality of experience among ISPs

Among the top ISPs in Norway, GlobalConnect offered the best video streaming and gaming experiences during 1H 2025, according to Speedtest Intelligence data.

GlobalConnect the fastest fixed ISP in Norway

GlobalConnect was the fastest ISP in Norway during 1H 2025 with a median download speed of 195.01 Mbps, and a median upload speed of 183.95 Mbps.

Trondheim and Bodø were the top performing cities in Norway

Among the most populous cities in Norway, Trondheim recorded the fastest median mobile download speed of 303.56 Mbps, while Bodø outpaced the other cities to record the fastest median fixed download speed, with 217.48 Mbps.

    Telenor had the Best Mobile Network overall, and the Best 5G Network, among providers in Norway during this period, based on Speedtest Intelligence® data. Telenor recorded a Speedtest Connectivity Score of 83.85, and a Speedtest 5G Connectivity Score of 78.18.

    Speedtest Connectivity Score combines key metrics to evaluate the overall user experience that mobile providers offer. It includes Speed Score, as well as indicators for web browsing performance, and Video Streaming Score.

    Fastest Mobile Network

    Telenor was the fastest mobile provider in Norway for all technologies combined and for 5G, based on Speed Score. Across all technologies combined, Telenor led on median download speed, recording 183.12 Mbps, ahead of next placed Telia, which recorded 144.02 Mbps, and ice with 81.02 Mbps. Telenor also led the market on median upload speed, with 25.02 Mbps, and a latency of 41 ms.

    Telenor led on median 5G download speed, recording 255.4 Mbps, ahead of next placed Telia, which recorded 166.71 Mbps, and ice with 98.05 Mbps. Telenor also led the market on median 5G upload speed, with 35.1 Mbps, and a latency over 5G of 38 ms.

    Most Consistent Network

    Telenor recorded the best mobile network Consistency in Norway, for all technologies combined and for 5G. Across all technologies, 94.4% of its samples met or exceeded the threshold of 5 Mbps download and 1 Mbps upload, while 92.3% of its 5G samples met or exceeded the higher threshold of 25 Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload.

    City Performance

    Trondheim had the fastest median mobile download speed among Norway’s most populous cities, recording 303.56 Mbps. Ålesund was second, followed by Oslo in third. At the other end of the scale, Bergen had the slowest median mobile download speed at 201.99 Mbps, followed by Stavanger and Fredrikstad. Telenor was the fastest provider across six cities.

    Regional Performance

    Oslo had the fastest median mobile download speed among Norway’s regions, recording 248.7 Mbps. Østfold was second, followed by Akershus in third. At the other end of the scale, Innlandet had the slowest median mobile download speed at 126.75 Mbps, followed by Buskerud and Møre og Romsdal. Telenor was the fastest provider across 14 regions.

At the other end of the scale, Trondheim had the slowest median fixed download speed at 138.62 Mbps, followed by Oslo and Kristiansand. Altibox was the fastest provider across three cities followed by GlobalConnect in two.

      Regional Performance

      Troms had the fastest median fixed download speed among Norway’s regions, recording 177.13 Mbps. Akershus was second, followed by Østfold in third. At the other end of the scale, Finnmark had the slowest median fixed download speed at 126.44 Mbps, followed by Buskerud and Oslo. GlobalConnect was the fastest provider across four regions, followed by Svorka in two.
