One NZ was the Best Mobile Network among providers in New Zealand during 1H 2025. It recorded a Speedtest Connectivity Score of 74.58.
Spark led the 5G mobile market across key performance metrics
Spark had the best 5G mobile network in New Zealand during 1H 2025. It recorded a 5G median download speed of 342.37 Mbps, and a median 5G upload speed of 20.64 Mbps.
2degrees the fastest fixed ISP in New Zealand
2degrees was the fastest ISP in New Zealand during 1H 2025 with a median download speed of 220.52 Mbps, and a median upload speed of 99.55 Mbps.
Wellington and Lower Hutt were the top performing cities in New Zealand
Among the most populous cities in New Zealand, Wellington recorded the fastest median mobile download speed of 186.4 Mbps, while Lower Hutt outpaced the other cities to record the fastest median fixed download speed, with 223.26 Mbps.

City Performance
Wellington had the fastest median mobile download speed among New Zealand’s most populous cities, recording 186.4 Mbps. Dunedin was second, followed by Christchurch in third. At the other end of the scale, Lower Hutt had the slowest median mobile download speed at 79.03 Mbps, followed by Rotorua and Tauranga.
Regional Performance
Wellington Region had the fastest median mobile download speed among New Zealand’s regions, recording 123.45 Mbps. Auckland was second, followed by Canterbury Region in third. At the other end of the scale, Northland Region had the slowest median mobile download speed at 50.38 Mbps, followed by Tasman Region and Marlborough Region. Spark was the fastest provider across three regions.

City Performance
Lower Hutt had the fastest median fixed download speed among New Zealand’s most populous cities, recording 223.26 Mbps. Wellington was second, followed by Hamilton in third. At the other end of the scale, Queenstown had the slowest median fixed download speed at 95.09 Mbps, followed by Rotorua and Palmerston North. 2degrees was the fastest provider across five cities.
Regional Performance
Wellington Region had the fastest median fixed download speed among New Zealand’s regions, recording 216.4 Mbps. Auckland was second, followed by Canterbury Region in third. At the other end of the scale, West Coast Region had the slowest median fixed download speed at 77.11 Mbps, followed by Gisborne Region and Northland Region. 2degrees was the fastest provider across eight regions.
